Free People’s Clip-In Dreadlocks Or Should We Say Clip-In Social Rebellion?

Is it just us or is there just something about clip-in dreads that takes away from the edgy look they aim to give off? For us here at HTF social rebellion isn’t something that can be just clipped on. More here.

Clip on extensions and are nothing new but even the lovers of bohemian chic fashion at HTF had to pause for a moment in shock when we saw the launch of Free People’s new clip in dread locks. We’re just about coming to terms with clip-on earrings but in our eyes Free People’s new form of fakery has taken things too far. Every organism in my body is recoiling in repulsion and horror at the thought of wannabe rebel teens prancing around festivals wearing the new ‘cool’ clip-in dreads this summer.

If your happy to walk around for the summer playing at being a social dissident, pulling brooding and ‘you can’t sit with us’ faces then Free Peoples clip-in dreads are ideal for you. You can in fact choose from two colours of Purple Finch Dreadlock Extensions for £98, either the neutral tie-dye or the blue tie-dye. However the decorations of ‘wood, bead and flower accents’ may just give away that your not as rebellious as you’d like to portray.

If you have the inner desire to stand out and protest against white European standards of beauty, which is one of the reasons dreadlocks were initially used for by the Rastafari movement, then we suggest you create your own real dreadlocks. Is it just us or is there just something about clip-in dreads that takes away from the edgy look they aim to give off? For us here at HTF social rebellion isn’t something that can be just clipped on.
