British company Fortnum & Mason has opened its first overseas store in Dubai. Fortnum only opened its second ever store in St Pancras International train station in November 2013.
The new Dubai shop is 9.400sq ft with three floors selling the companys most famous products and boasting two elegant eateries. The ground floor holds Fortnum’s products including tea, biscuits, chocolate and sweetmeats. Gift wrapping is available along with a limited selection of the institutions cherished hampers.
The Tea Salon is located on the first floor providing classic English tea and lunches whilst the second floor holds an ice-cream parlour. Both dining areas have luxury outdoor terraces with beautiful views of Dubai Fountain and the worlds tallest building, Burj Khalifa.
Company chief executive Ewan Venters said:“Fortnum’s has always been outward-looking by nature, and we have a tradition of serving customers around the world, so when the chance came along to secure such a fabulous site in such an important destination, it was just too good to resist.”
“Also, there’s the fact that tea, for which Fortnum’s is rightly renowned, is the drink of choice for many, many people in the Middle East. We feel the mix of Fortnum’s traditions and the vibrancy of Dubai will be a very powerful combination.”
