Aspiga is a luxury brand specialising in hand beaded products. Aspiga sells a range of beautiful holiday essentials including hand beaded accessories and clothing. The brand was founded in 2006 after founder Lucy Macnamara fell in love with Kenya and their beautiful sandals. The sandals designed by the brand are stunning and unique, the ideal footwear to wear day or night.
The beautifully crafted products Aspiga sells are not the only thing which makes purchasing items from Aspiga so alluring. The brand helps the fight against poverty through trade not aid. It focuses on sustainable luxury and ensures that those making its products are paid fairly and not under the minimum working wage. The company also donates a percentage of it’s profits going to a children’s orphanage in Nairobi.
Source: AspigaAspiga will be holding a showcase on the 24th-25th April coinciding with Fashion Revolution Day. The day will be held on the 24th April which will be the first anniversary of the Rana Plaza disaster. Many people died in the collapse of the Rana Plaza factory in which they were making clothes for western high street stores including Primark, Benetton, Mango and Matalan. The day will be held over 50 countries and asks people the question who made your clothes?
Aspiga will be one of the brands amongst a selection sharing it’s ethical story. Businesses and consumers are both responsible for making fashion more ethical. Fashion Revolution Day is an event that will help open the worlds eyes to the fact that our shopping habits need to be changed for the better.
