Calvin Klein has hired a new boss. The brand follows in the footsteps of Italian fashion house Agnona who has appointed former Emilio Pucci CEO Alessandra Carra as its new CEO.
Steve Shiffman who currently works as president and chief commercial officer for Calvin Klein will succeed Tom Murry as CEO. Murry who has worked for 17 years for the company will retire in January 2015, he will now take on an advisory role as executive chairman.
Shiffman recognises that the company is viewed by many as largely an underwear and enim brand. Shiffman wants to move away from this view and wants to expand the label further in Asia, India, Australia and South America in order to amend its reputation.
“We’re looking to convert many parts of the world from a classifications business of jeans and underwear into a lifestyle business and offer sportswear and other categories,” he told WWD. “In combination there are significant opportunities.”
