The British Academy and Fashion house Burberry have teamed up for a new project to support up and coming “future stars of film, television and games.” A BAFTA panel will select 20 newcomers to take part in a career guidance and mentoring day lead by “industry figureheads” at the BAFTA headquarters in London this October.
Chief executive of BAFTA, Amanda Berry said “It’s a fantastic opportunity for newcomers to showcase their work on a public stage,” she had also said “We are incredibly excited to be working with Burberry to provide this platform for emerging talent.” Burberry and BAFTA have previously worked together providing red carpet wear for the stars, however this is the brands first major project in the film industry.
Those selected from the shortlist with be celebrated at an evening reception at the Burberry Regent Street flagship shore. They will have full access to BAFTA events and a whole year of career guidance from specialists in their respective fields. Berry also stated she was hopeful that the achievement of the successful applicants “will inspire others taking their first steps into the film, television and games industries.”
The deadline for applications is July 8th and can be done via bafta.org by submitting nominations.
