News of Marc Jacobs departure from Louis Vuitton was the confirmed early this morning. During his 16 year stint, the designer, whose exit is due to him wanting to focus on his own fashion label, turned the company into a global powerhouse within a few short years.
The introduction of a world renown ready-to-wear line, which is new greatly respected amongst fashion critics, saw the firm shift their focus from luxe leather goods to lashings of designer clothing and accessories. Opening revenue sources, this drastic change allowed the business to grow and establish themselves as a key player in what some would call an already saturated market.
With a strong creative tenure and a signature style of theatrical shows, Jacobs presented his last collection for the brand earlier this morning at Paris Fashion Week. The catwalk show focused upon his “greatest hits” created in black.
