London based milliner Alexandra Harper Millinery has collaborated with The Walt Disney Company UK to create a one-off capsule collection of designer hats and headpieces. The Collection will be inspired by enchanting Disney stories and much loved fairy tales.
The first collection will compliment Disney’s new upcoming film ‘Maleficent’. The film stars Angelina Jolie as the lead and Elle Fanning. Maleficent is the one o Disney’s most iconic villains who made her debut in Disney’s 1959 edition of ‘Sleeping Beauty’. Alexandra has been commissioned to design four pieces which tie-in with the darkness and beauty of Maleficent.
Alexandra is the latest designer to be inspired by Disney. Stella McCartney has recently designed an adorable children’s clothing range based on Disney’s Maleficent. Having worked with designers including Christian Louboutin, Givenchy, Lulu Guinness and Giles Deacon, Alexandra has now been inspired by Disney’s characters and stories. “Working with Disney is an honour,” explains Alexandra. “Disney films are timeless, and just like Disney characters and their worlds, millinery is all about the fantastical. Drawing inspiration from the villainous ‘Maleficent’ character, the first Alexandra Harper Millinery for Disney collection blends luxurious materials in blacks, purples, and even shocking red with just the right amount of Disney magic.”

Alexandra will be producing several collections for Disney over the next two years. The second collection will be themed around the iconic tale of Peter Pan and Tinker Bell.
