We hate to be the bearers of bad news, especially to Twin Peaks fans, but here it is: we probably won’t be able to see the new series until 2017. Damn.
When the news broke last year that the cult classic show was returning to TV screens, we were delighted. Not only is David Lynch‘s masterpiece one of the best TV series ever, it was also great to see that Laura Palmer‘s promise that we’d “see [her] again in 25 years” had come to fruition, with the new episodes originally billed to come out in 2016.
However, if a recent interview with Mark Frost, co-creator of Twin Peaks, is anything to go by, the new series won’t be out until 2017. Sob.
“We’re coming back with season three of Twin Peaks after a 25-year absence. We’ve finished the scripts, we start production in September, and that will be coming out on Showtime sometime in 2017,” he said.
Oh well – hopefully it will all be worth the wait! You can’t rush art.
