Lemmy Kilmister might just have been the coolest son of a bitch who ever lived. Whatever you thought of the music he made with Mötorhead or Hawkwind, he was a force of nature, one of the greats. If the spirit of rock’n’roll had been made flesh, Lemmy would still have been able to out drink, out swear, and out smoke it.
When he passed on Monday December 28th 2015, it came as a surprise. Not because an increasingly frail man aged 70 had died, but that Lemmy could die at all. In a sense, he hasn’t, and won’t ever, because he lives on through memory, as all icons will. We decided to honour him in the only way we could – by pulling together some of our favourite Lemmy/Mötorhead moments.
Their Appearance On The Young Ones
The Young Ones was a cornerstone of 1980’s alternative comedy, a puerile, anarchic blend of gross-out humor and social satire. It’s the definitive University life based sitcom (fuck off Fresh Meat) and it featured musical guest spots from the likes of Madness, The Damned and Dexys Midnight Runners. Of course, the best of them all was Mötorhead’s appearance, their stone cold classic ‘Ace Of Spades’ the perfect soundtrack to the main character’s madcap dash to the train station.
