Another week, another great band we’ve discovered. We absolutely love when bands promote other bands because a lot of the time we end up with a brand new favourite band we wouldn’t have heard of otherwise. A couple of weeks back, Deaf Havana shared a little Soundcloud clip on their Facebook page by a band called New Desert Blues and we’re glad they did!
Hailing from the South Coast of England, New Desert Blues came about in 2012 with their harmonious rock tunes filled with beautiful guitar work and the sonic representation of the smell of the ocean and the sight of the clear blue sky ahead. Cinematic is the word that comes to mind as your ears are filled with dreamy sounds that feel like stuff of the movies. The kind of songs you could so easily lose yourself to. It’s not too often you find songs that can easily transport you to better times and places the way these penned by New Desert Blues can.
The band dropped their debut album Devil’s Rope early 2014, in which all tracks were named after a boy’s name; with each song serving as a tale of different characters of a story. The EP caught the attention of BBC Introducing, eventually lading to regular appearances on Radio 1 and even a Maida Vale session. Still continuing strong on their storytelling journey, the band has recently revealed the first single off their upcoming debut album. You can listen to the song ‘Swarm’ here:
