This year film lovers have a lot to be excited about!

This year film lovers have a lot to be excited about in regards to the films set to be released in 2015. While it was hard to narrow down our top seven picks for this year, these films are quite obviously fan favourites. With plenty of action packed and saucy book renditions coming to the big screen, we cannot help but shriek with delight at what is in store for us this year.

 1. Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

The premise of the newest Star Wars franchise hasn’t been released as of yet, however sources have revealed that the new film is set thirty years after the events of Star Wars Episode VII: Return of the Jedi, featuring three new characters as well as a few originals from the previous films. The film will be directed by the talented J.J. Abrams. Geeks all over the world will be crying with joy when the film is finally released in cinemas on December 18th, 2015.

 2. The Avengers: Age of Ultron

Joss Whedon brings back our favourite Marvel heroes, The Black Widow, Thor, The Hulk, Iron Man, and Captain America for the second instalment of the Avengers series, including the three new yet well known characters, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and Vision. When Stark’s supposed peace keeping machine, Ultron, becomes a problem, threatening to eradicate the human population, the Avengers must once again come together to stop him. Just from the incredibly frustrating trailer, and if your an avid fan you’ll know what I’m referring to,(I mean come on, the scene with Captains shield!) then you’ll hardly be able to contain your excitement. Luckily, we don’t have long to wait with the U.K release date being on the 24th of April, 2015.

 3. The Hunger Games Mockingjay: Part 2

This franchise will be welcomed with open arms from the large amount of fan following it has accumulated over the years. The Hunger Games is finally coming to a close with Katniss finally facing off with the Capitol in its final instalment. The film is scheduled to release on the 20th of November, 2015. Take some advice from a fan of the books, bring the tissues. You’ll be needing them.

 4. Furious 7

Paul Walker’s final appearance in film is one to be watched. The seventh instalment of the Fast and Furious Franchise will grace our screens on the 3rd of April, 2015. The film takes place after Fast and Furious 6. After returning back to the United States, Ian Shaw brother of Owen Shaw from the previous film is after Dominic, played by the amazing Vin Diesel, putting the crew in danger once again. This beloved series is sure to please the fans who have (somewhat) patiently waited for the film to finally be released.

5. Jurassic World

Fans of the original Jurassic Park will be please to hear of this newest instalment in the franchise. Set twenty-two years after Jurassic Park, the small island, Isla Nubar, now features a dinosaur themed amusement park, if you haven’t guessed it, called Jurassic World. Of course, as much as we know from the previous films, this containment can not last. The Indominus Rex, a genetically modified dinosaur, ends up getting out and wreaking havoc on the park and it’s visitors. The films set to release on the 12th of June 2015, which means we don’t have to wait long to get our dinosaur fix.

 6. Ted 2

While this franchise isn’t the most sophisticated or action packed, Ted 2 is the only comedy I cannot wait to come out. The brilliantly hilarious Seth McFarlane brings back the crude teddy bear we all know and love. Sadly, the lothario teddy bear is married, and thats where the story begins. Ted and his new wife desire a baby resulting in Ted having to fight for his ‘human rights’ so he can legally be a father. We can expect many laughs from this next instalment, due to be released in theatres the 26th of June, 2015.

 7. Fifty Shades of Grey

This cult book franchise has finally been made for the big screen. While I shudder to think exactly how the film was made while maintaining an appropriate age rating, it is obvious from the novel’s fan base that this film is one not to be missed. Fifty Shades of Grey follows the romantic affair of Christian Grey, a multi-million dollar business man, and  literature student, Anastasia Steele and her introduction into the world of dominant and submissive sex. The film is set to be released the day before valentines day on the 13th of February, 2015. Girlfriends and boyfriend beware.
