This week, The X Factor producer Richard Holloway announced that Louis Tomlinson of One Direction – who found fame on the show in 2010 – would “be good as a judge” and that he may be given a seat on a future panel. After eleven series, the programme has had its fair share of judging talent, from Sharon Osbourne to Mel B and Gary Barlow to veteran Louis Walsh. As the judges for this year’s series are yet to be confirmed, we thought we would produce our own ‘dream’ panel, featuring slightly different celebrities to what you might expect!

The woman you love to hate, or hate to love, depending on your outlook. Given the chance, Katie Hopkins can start an argument with anyone and everyone, and probably insults people in her sleep. However, no one can deny her offensive comments and spiteful personality would be a brilliant addition to The X Factor. She’s brutally honest, and quite frankly, we’re not sure we can deal with any more sob stories. Just tread carefully if considering a Kelly Clarkson track as your audition song.

No doubt a risky choice given his recent spat with Katie Hopkins, but with this pair around, there’ll never be a dull day at the studio. He says and does things he shouldn’t but this straight-up East London geezer would have no problem in telling the wannabe popstars if their audition was appalling… who does that remind us of? Oh yes, Katie Hopkins! Maybe they can get on after all!

As a successful comedian, actor and writer, Miranda knows absolutely nothing about music but that’s half the fun. With her affable personality, tendency to get into socially awkward situations and love of galloping (she is actually like her character, right?), she is bound to have the contestants, fellow judges and audience in stitches. Even those who claim she is ‘irritating’ actually love her and she’d be perfect light relief when it all gets a bit too tense.

Every great British talent show requires an American on their panel. As the fourth judge, Mr Freeman would be granted ‘head judge’ status. He would have no idea who the rest of his judges were and Danny’s use of cockney rhyming slang would require a translator on speed dial…”apples and pears?” However, with his beautifully soothing voice and calming demeanour, Morgan would be able to keep the peace and as a mentor, he’d be brilliant at helping his finalists conquer their nerves.

When a judge suddenly has to leave due to having a baby, gets ill or has ‘extremely pressing work commitments’, a glamorous guest is required to fill their seat. The X Factor has had the likes of Rita Ora, Geri Halliwell and Katy Perry guest judge but never have they had Miss Piggy. You may say she is not real but this illustrious Muppet has had more than her fair share of singing gigs, more so than the rest of this panel combined! She has performed with The Jonas Brothers and even did a duet with The X Factor’s very own Olly Murs back in 2011. Despite potential logistical issues, Miss Piggy is more than qualified for the job and could even earn a permanent slot, given the chance.

There would probably be blood, most likely a lot of sweat and buckets full of tears if these five had anything to do with the show. Despite this, you have to admit, our controversial panel would reel in the viewers and certainly takes the show’s ‘entertainment factor’ to new levels.
