Made in Chelsea star Kimberly Garner will be taken to court by Agent Provocateur who have claimed she has copied one of their leading swimwear designs for her own label, Kimberly London. Garner was known on MIC to be the one to attract the attention from the boys, but always seemed so innocent. Perhaps she’s not so innocent anymore. Garner launched her own swimwear label earlier on this year, where she has produced pieces named after her favourite holiday places including ‘Monaco’ the piece that is allegedly the same design as Agent Provocateurs Mazzy bikini.
Both the Mazzy bikini and Monaco bikini feature a triangle shape top with extra straps across the ribs, and a cut away feature on the briefs too. The Mazzy bikini comes in different colours, whereas Kimberly’s Monaco bikini is all black with a gold pendant on the top, however there is no denying that the swimwear are almost identical in design.
CEO of Agent Provocateur, Garry Hogarth said “We invest significantly in product design and development, and the Mazzy is our bestselling swimwear design. We have brought this action to protect our intellectual property, our designer and our business.”
Kimberly responded saying “It does seem that Agent Provocateur are doing this just for publicity, as you can see from how many extremely similar pieces that are already available on the market.” Then adding “There are so many other well-known designers selling bikinis that are so similar, as the strappy bikini is very much on trend. They are a multi-million pound giant trying to intimidate a 23 year old.”
