Here are MOSH we love new music, whether it’s new material by some of our favourites or just finding new artists to listen to. Our latest discovery is Everything:I, which happens to be a combination of the two things we just mentioned. Everything:I is Tohm Napier, who you may know from his work with pop-punk band Light You Up (if you haven’t already, listen to their debut album All We’ve Ever Known, it’s fantastic).
What’s most interesting about the debut EP Tohm just released under his new moniker is the entire idea behind its conception. Basically, long story short, he set himself the challenge of writing and recording an EP in SEVEN days. Despite having created this record from scratch in virtually no time at all, the result is still pretty great.
Titled Chapter One, this EP is definitely a little different than Light You Up’s stuff – for starters, it’s an acoustic project. There are three tracks: ‘Moving Mountains’, ‘The Afterglow’ and ‘Peace of Mind’. If there’s one thing that can be said about Tohm it’s that he’s a storyteller. All songs flow wonderfully into one another, almost like sub-chapters of some kind. The lyrics are absolutely stunning, seaming so well with the soft melodies and his unique voice. The EP comes with a download of the lyrics booklet, so if you’re going to do one thing, definitely look up the lyrics to the final track.
Chapter One is currently available on Bandcamp with a ‘name your price’ option, so there’s no excuse not to check it out. Judging by the way it’s been titled, we’re excited to hear what chapter two will bring.
