Introducing - Forever Wednesday

Forever Wednesday have been around since 2006 and are due to release their debut album ‘Depths’ due early this year. Up to now they have been touring across the UK and have supported acts such as You Me At Six, Kids in Glass Houses, We are the Ocean, Deaf Havana, All Forgotten, Brokencyde and Attack Attack so are well on their way up so Steph HTF caught up guitarist Josh Irvine for a chat….

HTF: Hey Josh! What have the band been up to in 2010?

J: In 2010 we had a huge member change, wrote our album and recorded it. A busy year but well worth it.

HTF: I am guessing Wednesday is the best day of the week for you? Haha!
J: Wouldn’t say its the best but in top 3

HTF: How come you didn’t call yourself by another day of the week?
J: It was just a name that we stuck with and has become known amongst people. Changing it would mean starting from scratch.

HTF: How did your band form and what inspired you to make music together?
J: Well it originally started years ago with inspiration from bands such as Blink 182 and Sum 41 but as years have gone on and our line up has changed then so has our inspiration. Growing up with bands like that has created a much stronger and independent generation. Now our inspirations is what life throws at you whether its being stuck in a dead end job or losing a loved one.

HTF: Where is the best place you have played together?
J: With this line-up it was probably Islington Academy2 and our local shows. Not having much gig experience with this line-up makes us hungry to play bigger shows and reach for bigger goals.

HTF: Who is your favourite band out there at the moment and do they influence your music at all?
J: At the moment you have so many good bands all trying to get somewhere and we think the amount of talent that has come out of UK is amazing. Influences from American bands growing up has created a vast amount of interest for us to do what they do and make a good record. Currently we’re all vibing The Ghost Inside, Memphis May Fire and Our Last Night

HTF: Tell me about your new album ‘Depths’?
J: The album is full of so much variety and takes influence from a range of genres but somehow we made it mix really nicely. We’re hoping lots of different types of people will be able to relate to it. The album mainly deals with the struggles of being in a band in the current state of the music world and talks about how so many different people have used us and fucked us about. We let out a lot of aggression on this album. Each song has its own story and meaning.

HTF: I watched your new music video for you song ‘Viruses’, tell me about it.
We shot the video in our front mans parents garden, near our hometown of Farnham. We were really lucky with the weather as it was scheduled to rain the whole day so we were afraid we wouldn’t get to shoot it. The story behind the video is the virus represents being stuck in a dead end job and living a mediocre life and about how we are trying to change our more than likely fates through our actions.

HTF: What are your plans for 2011?
J: Basically we are just planning to get back on the road and promote the album to as many people as we can. Who knows what could happen.

HTF: Thanks Josh and good luck for the future!
