Festival season is already starting to kick off so I thought I would give you a quick run-down of a few essentials to bring with you for all you festival new-comers! Listen and learn people!
Tent & Sleeping Bag
Yes, it sounds obvious, but trust me! The amount of people I have known to goto festivals without these is stupid. I even went to Glastonbury once with a tent but no sleeping bag. I froze so much in the night I went home the next day because I thought I was going to die. Make sure you have both!
Wet Wipes
As much as you think you’re gonna shower everyday, chances are you will find you won’t; mainly as the queues for the showers can be ridiculous. Take wet wipes as a backup. If you can’t shower at least you can have a good wipe down.
Wellies
No matter what it says the weather is meant to be TAKE THEM! Festivals are shoe destroyers.
An old Nokia phone! (or an emergency phone charger / extra battery)
Unless you wanna stand around for hours at a charging station, or pay to have it charged, remember there are no power sockets at festivals, then you will want some extra juice. Whack your sim in an old Nokia, they last forever! Yes you won’t have internet and can’t upload to Facebook BUT you will be thanking me when you’re drunk, lost and need to phone a friend and your battery is still going. Try running an iPhone for 3 days on one charge. Not gonna happen! If you must have a smart phone, buy an emergency charger or maybe even a spare battery if your phone can take em.
Money
Do I even need to explain this one. You wanna eat right?
And finally…Your Ticket
Again, VERY obvious but MAKE SURE YOU HAVE IT! You don’t want to spend all the time packing and getting there to not get in and then get ripped off outside by a tout selling tickets for 10x the price! Remember your festival tickets.
As long as you have at least these essentials you should manage to survive fairly easily. Play safe and have fun!
