Welcome to the world of fantasy albums where music fans are put to the test to decipher their ultimate album. The rules are simple(ish): they can’t repeat an artist, and to just make it that little bit more interesting – they have to use the same track number from another album i.e track 1 could be the opening track of the wonderful Stone Roses’ debut ‘I Wanna Be Adored’. Track 2 could be Blur’s ‘Song 2′. You get the idea.
This time around we have a playlist from the amazing Walter; the world’s greatest gigging Muppet. Walter attends over 300 gigs and festivals a year primarily to raise awareness for The Make a Wish Children’s Foundation and, fun fact, his dad was also the manager for Pink Floyd for many years! With that fact, prog rock is at the heart of his album tracklisting today, with the addition of a few other legendary tracks, so let’s dive in and see what Walter has picked…
1.’Blackest Eyes’ – Porcupine tree
Couldn’t have a top ten without including Steven Wilson, in my mind, one of the greatest musicians of our time could have picked any one of 30 tracks of his.

2. ‘Crawl’ – Kings of Leon
Just think this track has so much power, I always turn it up loud and it drives the way any classic rock tune should, straight down the middle.
3. ‘Sweet Talking Woman’ – ELO
This whole album was ingenious in its time, as it is now and I could have picked any track from it, but this one has everything.
4. ‘Starman’ – David Bowie
The man, the legend, I don’t think there is anything I can add to this track, this man, it speaks for itself.
5. ‘Joan of Arc’ – OMD
One of the greatest 80’s electric pop tracks of all time in my mind. Still sounds as good today as it did then.
6. ‘Ripples’ – Genesis
Having been involved with this band from its early days it was a difficult choice to pick one track, but this one still sends shivers up my spine as it did the day it was written.
7. ‘Love is a Losing Game’ – Amy Winehouse
I believe Amy was the greatest performer of our times and listening to her sing this track proves that point in my mind.
8. ‘Time it’s Time’ – Talk Talk
Many bands have a distinctive sound; Talk Talk can never be mistaken. Mark’s (Hollis) voice is haunting, the bass riff is so undeniably Talk Talk, the way it lifts and drops from the chorus is superb, amazing production and the best use of a recorder on any track I have heard.
9. ‘Seek and Destroy’ – Kasabian
This is such an amazing band live, that I felt I had to include one of their tracks. This one is always in there set and says everything about their live performances.
10. ‘This is The One’ – The Stone Roses
Having been a Spike Island kid I had to include this in my list. Who can explain what it is about the Roses, but we all feel it.
A great mix of tunes and a classic closer. Check our Walter’s fan page on Facebook here . Also, check out The Make a Wish Children’s Foundation here on the great things they do.
