The rock world may be all fired up after last weekend’s Slam Dunk madness and the upcoming wrath of Donington’s annual Download Festival, but this week we’re excited for more. Fresh from our ears into words, we’re here to tell you about rock’s finest up and coming bands that’ll tickle your tastebuds.
Ready? Lets do this.
Eva Plays Dead
No-nonsense four-piece Eva Plays Dead mean business when it comes to their music. Fresh off the touring circuit, these East Midlands rockers are on fire, with no reason to stop now. Their latest single ‘Wonderland’ is a sassy, punk-infused riff thirsty number that has put them slap bang on the map. From supporting We Are The Ocean earlier this week, to their brand new EP Sounds of the Written Word to be released this July, there won’t be one rocker around who hasn’t got their eyes on this lot.

Press To Meco
If you’re on a search for a band that are totally unique, then look no further. Crawley/Croydon hailed trio Press To Meco combine progressive rock with a dash of pop to create pure genre bending madness. Last week the guys announced their signing to Best Before Records, and for a good reason. Whether it be their wacky music videos that both surprise and disgust, or their complex musicality, this band are something special. Don’t believe us? Well then you’ll just have to check out their three-part harmonies for yourself.

SHVPES
Re-inventing yourself is no easy feat, but we think SHVPES have got it covered. Leaving their old persona Cytota behind, this Birmingham based melodic meets metalcore five-piece are here to transform the past into a bright, high-octane future. This week, the guys put out the their second single ‘State Of Mine’ – and boy, its a rip roaring hit. Its many layers of binary guitars, screams, thrills and lyrical chills are on course to impress after this year’s Slam Dunk Festival. This is one rebirth you don’t want to miss.

Best of Enemies
They are the band that led Kerrang! Radio host Alex Baker to say: “Broody, emotional music, with hooks you could land a whale with.” You read right, a whale! They are fun-loving fresh-on-the-market Croydon based four-piece Best of Enemies. Since the release of their debut single ‘Brother’ less than a year ago, the band have showcased a real glimmer of a new kind of alternative rock. Their EP Stay Young, Trust Me is a punchy and poignant feast of melodic hooks – and we love it. Now get yourself on it.

One Last Run
Hard rock is classically the genre our state side brethren’s thrive at – not anymore. Its been two years since the inception of the Manchester hailed quintet One Last Run. Their mission is to bring chunky riffs and roar from bands such as Alter Bridge and Black Stone Cherry to the dark depths of the British Isles. For the record, their mission has been well and truly successful. The band’s self-titled debut EP bursts with bold, ballsy guitars and vocal guts that leave no room for weak listeners. All in all, it freaking rocks.

Rory Indiana
The alternative rock scene is bursting at the seams right now – there’s just too much choice to handle. So how do you stand out from the crowd? Just ask Brighton based four-piece Rory Indiana. Despite the name, they boast everything British. Mixing Biffy Clyro-like breakdowns and edgy indie vocals, this band know how to pump up the quirkiness. Their 2014 release Empiricism may have caught some attention, but we want to know, why don’t the whole world know them yet?

God Damn
Why are we listening to God Damn right now? Because their world has blown up recently (for all the right reasons). This Wolverhampton duo have just dropped their debut album Vultures and are set to play Download Festival. Oh, and did we mention that they’re supporting Foo Fighters. No biggie…If you’re wondering what the fuss is all about, then immerse yourself in their dizzy defying back-to-basics style that’s heavy as hell. Its seductively psychedelic and just plain genius.
