Some sad news broke yesterday about M&S: the high street stalwart, loved by ourselves as much as our grans, has revealed it is due to close 30 UK stores and 53 overseas stores as part of a series of cutbacks. Marks and Sparks has also made plans to pull back a great deal on its approach to clothing – a key section of the store that’s struggling, partly down to being unable to bat off fierce, cheaper fashion competitors like H&M and Zara on the high street – which seems slightly jarring considering these announcements come just a week after the launch of M&S’ much-hyped second Archive by Alexa collection.
However, sometimes in tough times you just have to think positively. Whether it came about as a result of them digging about on the M&S website to find something newsworthy or not, an online tabloid journalist has picked up on a beautiful fragrance dupe that’s been making small waves, bubbling up under the surface of the mainstream, for a while.
