The Top Trends to Know About This Spring

As the clocks are about to change, it’s time to get thinking about your spring wardrobe.

‘Tis the season to be feminine!

Although we’re still waking up to ice-covered rooftops and wearing 3 layers at a minimum, fear not: the spring trend edit is here to brighten up your day! This spring really is the season to be feminine. Whether you love the idea or you’re on the fence, there is something for everyone this season. I’ve picked my four favourite trends and hope that you find a favourite too.

Colour me softly

Although wearing pastel shades for spring is nothing new, the gelato hues of lavender, green, pink and (custard) cream (see what I did there?!) will have you running through a field of daises. Only in your imagination, obvs, but these colours will definitely make you want to smell the flowers.

Granny chic

OK, I know it’s spring but, if you’ve read my ‘reasons to love winter dressing’ piece, you’ll know that I can’t completely let go of winter – and you’ll be thankful for this one when the sun goes down, too. Chunky granny knits are everywhere. They have that dressed-down edge we all love. Pick any colour and any style, just make it something granny would be proud of!

Time to get frilly

No longer banished to the golden girl’s era frills, feathers, ruching or whatever you fancy is back shaking a tail feather (sorry). From Giorgio Armani to Sonia Rykiel, eye-catching textures are everywhere. If you’re not ready to buy your clothes with polka dots included, head to the haberdashery – I’ll meet you there!

Welcome to the dark side

The dark denim you used to wear back in the 2000s is back! Now, don’t throw away your light wash jeans just yet, but do make room for some head-to-toe dark denim in your wardrobe. Smart enough for the office, day-to-night dressing and casual line-ups – dark, tailored denim is a great all-rounder. Go simple with a classic pair of jeans or go for a double-denim look as seen on the runway at Tom Ford, Nina Ricci and Versus.

So, there you have it, folks. Although I’m crying into my coatigan as my daily layering count has dropped from 5 to 3, and P&O Cruises is not giving up with its 2-week cruise deals, spring is here and these gorgeous trends are making it more bearable. Now, where did I put my winter 2017 style guide… (hey, let me have this).
