The Closet Does LFW: Exploring the Designer Showrooms for SS18

We sent our contributing writer Madolyn down south to experience London Fashion Week for the first time. Here’s what she thought of the LFW Designer Showrooms…

London Fashion Week is definitely the place to go for fashion inspiration. Whether you’re a fashion blogger, studying design or just have a passion for all things fashionable, you won’t be disappointed walking around the Designer Showrooms at LFW.

This year, the main hub of London Fashion Week was 180 The Strand. It was the perfect location as it was so easy to get to, located right in the centre of London. Once the entrance opened up, attendees were instantly thrust into the world of up-and-coming designers, all showcasing their latest collections.

As well as a range of clothing designers there were also stalls set up to showcase the latest shoe, handbag and hat designs. On top of this, there was a whole room dedicated to jewellery and accessories which, needless to say, was truly stunning.

One of the main features of the Designer Showrooms was the NewGen section. This was an area set up specifically for a few designers that had been handpicked for this year’s NewGeneration lineup. This area changed daily to feature an new up-and-coming designer. Their pieces were shown on the catwalk and then brought upstairs to be showcased in the Design Room. Richard Quinn was named as the ‘One To Watch’ but, frankly, all of these pieces were amazing.

Not only were the showrooms full of loads of fashion items and inspiration, there were fantastic little areas run by the sponsors of LFW too. Maybelline and Toni & Guy were this year’s main LFW partners, so they each had designated areas set up – ideal for getting your makeup topped up or getting a quick blow dry. There was also Lavazza coffee on tap and Green & Blacks chocolate for a little sugar fix, as well as a food stall if you fancied sitting down to eat.

The Designer Showrooms at London Fashion Week had something for everyone. I can’t wait to see some of these trends hit the shops come sprin!
