This NYE, Primark has declared, would be best spent in woven midi dresses, 70s-inspired lounge suits, crew neck jumpers and blinged-up trainers.

Let’s be frank: attempting to nail your workout in those metallic trainers will probably leave you with a terrible ankle injury, and that cropped pink puffa jacket – as pretty as it is – is unlikely to keep you warm enough during a nighttime run. However, Primark’s party season edit is packed with clothes that actually look comfortable, which is a welcome departure from the brand’s standard December stalwarts (ribbed bodycon skirts that ride up every minute, we’re looking at you).

This NYE, Primark has declared, would be best spent in woven midi dresses, 70s-inspired lounge suits, crew neck jumpers and blinged-up trainers. Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without fluff and sparkle, so faux fur jackets, brocade two-pieces, chandelier earrings, Studio 54-ready strappy platforms, velvet bralettes and shimmering jumpsuits also feature, though we’d avoid wearing the latter if you’re drinking as nobody has time for get undressed when they just need the loo.

Some items are in store now, while others will be dropping in late November. With skirts selling for £8 and jeans going for £13, these prices are too good to miss if you’re a bit cash-strapped this Christmas. And, let’s be honest, who isn’t?
