Lavender: The Colour You Should be Wearing This Spring

It’s easier to embrace lavender than you might’ve thought, even if you’re usually an ‘all-black-everything’ kinda gal.

Written by Casey Milano

Although as a 20-something fashion-obsessed woman who keeps up to date with trends, I don’t necessarily shop what the designers say is in – like most of us, I take trends with a pinch of salt. But there is a trend – or rather, a colour trend – that has got everyone’s attention at the moment, including mine: lavender. The soft colour’s been spotted throughout the spring collections and has captured the pastel-loving spring daisies within us all. This shade has even got me – a self-confessed dark-colour junkie – tempted to put my black skinny jeans and dark knitwear away and find out if this trend is workable for the everyday woman.

Maybe I’m not quite ready to go to the light side and leave my comfort zone (and preferred colour palette) just yet, but I’ve put together some of my favourite lavender pieces below that I hope, piece by piece, will make their way into my wardrobe. If you’re anything like me when it comes to bright colours (yes, lavender is a bright colour when you class grey as a pale colour…), you appreciate them but don’t buy them – hopefully you’ll find something in this edit that might tempt you to try something new.

Whatever your budget and style, there’s something for everyone when lavender’s concerned – whether you try a full-on pastel outfit, take it slow with accessories, or just a nod to this spring colour with a lick of lavender eyeshadow. Be bold and love your choices. Happy spring!
