5 Ways to Wear: The LBD

The next best thing to jeans and a nice top when you’re struggling to find something to wear? The classic LBD, of course. Here’s five ways to wear it.

The next best thing to jeans and a nice top when you’re struggling to find something to wear is the classic Little Black Dress. It’s a wardrobe staple that radiates Carrie Bradshaw vibes, and it can create a completely different look every time. There really isn’t a more versatile friend than a trusty LBD. Here’s five ways to style yours, from day to night or summer to winter, to let you make the most of everything the LBD has to offer.

The 2-in-1

Wearing a white t-shirt under your LBD is an effortlessly cool way to take an outfit down a notch or two to suit more casual occasions. Go for a loose fitting top – like the one above – under a spaghetti-strap slip dress for ultimate comfort. A great look for warmer days.

The Glitz ‘n’ Glam

Give your LBD even more glamour with a statement necklace that sparkles from miles away. Go for gold or silver for a more timeless look or, if you’re more daring with your jewellery, a splash of colour will make you stand out in the crowd. Whichever you chose, let the sparkle do the talking.

The Colour Pop

Pairing colour with your LBD gives your outfit maximum impact. Red and black come together to make the perfect statement for an outfit and, with its daring yet sophisticated look, it’s impossible to ignore. Go for poppy reds for a more summery daytime look, or wine reds for something more autumnal.

The Summer Vibe

Black is normally a ‘stay-away’ colour during the summer. However, your LBD can work all year round. As well as looking great with a tan, a black summer dress gives off all the boho-chic vibes. With a straw fedora, white converse and dark sunglasses, your LBD can be transformed into the ultimate festival look.

The Denim Partner

Denim is the number one way to achieve a dressed-down look. Doubled up with knee-high socks and tights for the colder months and lace-up biker boots for a rocky look, it’s the kind of outfit that has a casual yet cool aura about it. You can turn out traditional denim for black denim to tie in with an all-black look, or pick blue denim for a more relaxed outing.
