New punks on the block We Fight Like Kids are here to present us with their five-track debut EP ‘Superficial Behaviour.’
Despite only being born about a year ago, the innovative five-piece have already created themselves a bespoke sound that collaborates high-energy, fast paced beats with dynamic drops, tasty riffs and a certain tonality that will blow your mind.
‘Falconer’ is heavily charged with fire and frenzy: everything you want to wake you up in the morning and everything you need to know about the intentions of this band. Clearly passionate and full of beans, this track bleeds the party vibe and benefits from a sweet transition between hardcore beats and sultry melodies. ‘Tequila Slammers’ effortlessly follows on with another set of mean riffs, alongside some rough and ready vocals, rounding off the beginning off this EP nicely.
‘Select The Ejector’ presents an unexpected orchestral element during the introduction and goes on to display some of the strongest vocals we’ve heard so far. Vocalist Ant Pain has quite an interchangeable range on him, making this song a clear favourite.
‘Ice Breakers’ brings us to the heart of this record and it’s where you can definitely feel the heart in the production and performance of this ruthless anthem. Springing to mind resemblances from early Trivium and elements of Bring Me The Horizon, the underground attitude that surrounds this penultimate track puts it in good stead to become your next mosh pit soundtrack. Finally bringing this emotional record to a close is ‘Creeper Complex’, unfortunately the one song that mildy let the team down. With so much going on in and around this record, it’s hard to find your feet and differentiate good from bad.
We think this band have a phenomenal amount of potential and can sincerely say we can’t wait to see them bouncing around the UK.
