This Is Endless are a London-based 5-piece death metal / hardcore band who have recently emerged onto the scene. They are formed of members of other London bands including Dripback, Ted Maul, Akercocke, Dead Beyond Buried, Voices and Metastasis so fans of those bands will no doubt be excited to hear what this new project has to offer on their debut EP, Inherit the Sin.
Having come from such a background it’s no surprise that This Is Endless start out strong with this EP. The opening track, ‘Soul Negated’, launches straight into a riff that is guaranteed to have you headbanging within seconds, before showing off impressive vocals, both growling and screaming with ferocity that rivals that of seasoned metal vocalists, all while accompanied by satisfyingly heavy riffs and frantic lead guitars. This onslaught continues onto the next track, ‘Inherit the Sin’, which also throws gang vocals into the mix. The EP doesn’t let up until track 5, ‘War of Life’, a strange interlude featuring backwards vocals and eerie sounds. This allows the listener to take a breather after the intensity of the previous four tracks, before returning to the fray on the closing track ‘Forgive Me Father’ which is no less furious and brutal.
The EP boasts production by veteran producer Russ Russell, who has previously worked with bands such as Napalm Death, Dimmu Borgir, The Wildhearts and Sikth among many others. This has resulted in an extremely consistent, unrelenting collection of songs which hearken back to the good old days of death metal and hardcore. With such a promising debut in Inherit the Sin, the future looks good for This Is Endless, and the extreme music scene would be wise to keep an eye on these guys.
