Band: Underclass
Release: Ordinary Strange (Single)
Release Date: 09/07/12
‘Ordinary Strange’ marks the fourth release from Edinburgh based five-piece Underclass, who for the past few years have been making their mark on the rock scene with sell-out hometown shows supporting Broken Records and shows in both Manchester and London.
They had been forging a set of powerhouse rock tunes with danceable keyboards and forceful melodies but this single marks a slight shift in their sound. The track shifts from the heavier rock beat of previous work to a softer more relaxing tone: full of slowly strummed guitar parts laced with a passionate delivery from John Keenan culminating in lyrics such as “stand back from the fire/ don’t question your desire/ we are all a little strange”. This band are one who are evolving and maturing through their sound to find their place in the current music scene.
