Artist: Planara
Release: Hostiles
Release Date: 24th March
Russian alternative metal mentalists Planara’s debut EP ‘Hostiles’ is a wild amalgamation of every rock song ever. Combining everything into an epic blend through five tracks of solid production, techincal riffs and addictive crawling melodies.
Opener ‘Hostiles’ kicks the EP into hefty territory with a momentous chorus that sets the tone for every boundary push that comes throughout the EP. The track pulses and punches in as it leads into ‘On The Run’ with techy opening riffs that go into unexpected zigzagging between guitars and vocals. All of this is entertwined with infectious vocals and electronics. Planara have combined all their influences into a delectable fusion of alt metal, if that is even the band to place them in. Each track stretched across a wide range of concepts, styles and skills.
‘What I Will Never Say’ opens up with spoken word into jolting guitars that forms a addictive track with catchy lyrics and recurrent patterns that never leave your head. Whereas ‘Enslaved‘ rips in with electronic sounds and tearing, belting lyrics that all have this winding guitar heaving underneath them. ‘Enslaved’ bounces from style to style personfying everything Planara are.
Final track ‘All The Right Wrongs’ launches in with meaty guitars that quickly part for clean vocals and rampant drumming. For a band that have not even been together for a year Planara have created an insane sound that pushes the conventions of rock with clear influences from a variety of genres that reflects maturity that some bands never gauge. With a debut full length due this year too Planara are certainly ones to watch.
