Nightlife were formed 18 months ago from the remnants of All or Nothing, The Fight and Chaos Days , in that short period of time the band have had a memorable start to their short career. They found themselves on the US leg of the warped tour and are now onto EP number two, you can not deny this band have an excellent work ethic, but not only that they have the talent to back that up as well and their latest offering For The Record is the case in point.
Opener, ‘Where I Ought To Be’ really gets things going, it catchy chorus and guitar hooks give you a sense of a band trying to push the boundaries of their genre. It really does set the mood for the rest of the EP and from here on out we get a sense of accomplishment with how they want to sound!
The band really get to show off their nifty guitar work on second track ‘Good Intentions’, the musical talent that this track exudes really is impressive, the riff will get you hooked and the vocals will implant into your brain, with Paul Foster’s voice being something you won’t forget in a heartbeat.
The middle section of this EP is where the real magic happens, ‘Wisdom Teeth’ is a monolith of catchy vocal work and riffs to really entice you, it’s “do-do-do’s” will have you mimicking whether you like it or not. The next track ‘Remedy’ brings a cataclysmic effect, it is a right stormer of a track, its pop-punked fueled chaos will get you singing your heart out. It has the perfect blend of punchy riffs and harmonized vocals to make the track really stick out.
For The Record is yet another impressive piece of work from a band, who have had such a short career already. Two EP’s in 18 months shows this band are willing to work their balls off to get to where they want to. It’s another short taste of what this band can deliver and it will be interesting to see what happens when they get onto releasing a full lenth album!
