Review: Kim Kardashian – Jam (Turn It Up) (Single)

Kim Kardashian goes pop? We take a listen to new single ‘Jam (Turn It Up)….

Artist: Kim Kardashian
Release: Jam (Turn It Up) (Single)

Theres no denying that I’m a massive fan of all the Kardashians as reality stars but what happens when a reality star takes a turn down the path of the music buisness? Ill tell you, either fabulous or flop. Kim Kardashians first single ‘Jam’ debuted on Ryan Seacrests radio show just days ago and Ryan Seacrest himself was a massive supporter of the hit. People are speculating he may be giving it alot of praise and airplay due to the fact he is an executive producer on one of Kims reality tv shows ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’.

I do love alot of cheesy pop and electro and would normally wallow in a track like this but the lyrics were old and tired and the beat desperatly tries to hold the song together. It pains me to describe Kim Kardashian in the same league as Heidi Montag but I can see Kims future tracks being like a car crash I cant look away from. The beat was some what modern but had moments where it reminded me of a 2004 flopped R&B track and the lyrics were extremely simple; heres some examples – ‘Feeling so good, I’m feeling so great’ ‘turn me turn me turn me up! yeah, yeah, yeah!’ ‘they playin my jam they playin my jam they playin my jam turn it up turn it up turn it up turn it up turn it up turn it up’.  It also mentions raising her glass of Rose Wine and having 5 more shots of Tequila which to me rings alarm bells that she probably didnt write her own music as we all know Kim hates drinking from her reality show.

In my opinion Kim Kardashian should stick to reality tv where we love her. I don’t feel her voice is strong enough or distinctive enough to stand out from the crowd and make good music. I do wish Kim all the best in whatever career she decides to choose though.
