Review: Dead Poets – Break The Walls (EP)

HTF reviewed the new EP from Plymouth based hardcore band Dead Poets, check out what we thought of their newest offering here..

Band: Dead Poets
Release: Break The Walls (EP)
Release Date: 17/02/12

Plymouth based post hardcore rockers Dead Poets are kicking of 2012 with a new 5 track EP Break The Walls, any fans of Every Time I Die, Cancer Bats or The Computers should look these guys up.

With punchy rhythms and rock and roll style, Dead Poets are well and truly exploding on to the scene. Vocalist Danny puts in a tireless shift on every track and Mark the guitarist plays with what I can only describe as being post punk, hardcore, rock and roll rhythms. Each song sounds raw, hard hitting yet somewhat jaunty. The four piece is completed by Olly on bass and Corby on drums, giving the band their own unique take on the post hardcore genre. Each guitar riff is punchy and the percussion is tight throughout every track.

The tracks themselves all sound different in style but with the same energetic enthusiasm you’d expect from a band that have played shows with the likes of Pulled Apart By Horses, Cancer Bats, Lower Than Atlantis, Don Broco and Yashin. The track ‘That Loaded Question’ is four minutes of intense and explosive hardcore; whereas the track ‘How Should I Put This…’ has a calm, melodic instrumental near the end.

If you ever get 18 minutes of spare time then i suggest having a listen.
