Review: Bloody Mammals – Eventually Your House Will Burn Down (Mini-Album)

See what we thought of Bloody Mammals new mini album ‘Eventually Your House Will Burn Down’ here!

Band: Bloody Mammals
Release: Eventually Your House Will Burn Down
Release Date: Out Now!

Rejuvenating post-hardcore with their own blend of progressive grooving fusions has seen the awesome ‘Eventually Your House Will Burn Down’ come from Londoners Bloody Mammals. This aberrant, infectious and intruding mini-album will be on repeat for those who can appreciate it’s math-esque elements and possibly a few confused plays from others.

The 6 track mini-album rips into wild ‘This Neighbourhood Is Cursed’ which hooks you in with barking vocals. As the track slows into intricate guitars and grooving drums it’s hard to not to tap your feet. The dynamics of ‘This Neighbourhood Is Cursed’ hit you in the face then give you time to recover as the guitars incline into the title track ‘Eventually Your House Will Burn Down’. Here the unrelenting energy from the first track seeps in and drives into mathy riffs that fuse in your brain as the track itches to take off and pulls into elaborate string hooks.

The way this mini-album pulls from delicate and quiet to thrashing viscid aggression proves Bloody Mammals are pushing post-hardcore to a new level intertwining progressive and alt- rock elements for a raw addictive cut-throat sound. ‘Tie Down Team’ coils you in around the track with luring vocals as dizzy guitars guide the listener through to ‘Madam’ coursing its way through an unrelenting two and a half minutes that finds itself chanting punk shouts. ‘Long Song’ is the most intense, creative and compelling track off of ‘Eventually Your House Will Burn Down’. Ideas that we have witnessed through the rest of the tracks flesh out into a polyrhythmic exploration with juxtaposing vocals from funky to stomping shouts. The fervent drums pull chaotic guitars through to the end of the mini-album.

Bloody Mammals have lent themselves to numerous genres to fill ‘Eventually Your House Will Burn Down’ with exceptional ideas reviving British post-hardcore with abrasive math elements and jazzy drums. With such an established sound for such a young band we really can’t wait to hear more.

9/10
