Review: Aerosmith – Music From Another Dimension (Album)

HTF love the new Aerosmith album ‘Music From Another Dimension’ which hit the stores today! Check out our review here!

Band: Aerosmith
Release: Music From Another Dimension (Album)
Release Date: Out Now

After over 40 years and 14 studio albums later, Aerosmith are back with their 15th studio album which will be their first album with new material since 2001. And it goes by the name of ‘Music From Another Dimension!’, a title so fitting as it generally does sound like it’s come from another world; a world in which Aerosmith are untouchable and nobody is going to stop them.

‘LUV XXX’ kicks off the album with a hypnotic start, blending a raunchy combination of blues filled riffs and steamy drum beats. Even years on, this track is hot as hell with a sensationally sexy groove that is one thing Aerosmith does best.

‘Oh Yeah’ is a booty shaking, party anthem with enthusiastic gospel singers in the background that make you want to get up and jump around till you break your legs. ‘Out Go The Lights’ is an epic 7 minute anthem just itching to be played in a stadium with the generic gospel singing and orchestra harmonising behind the rippling licks of the guitar.

‘Beautiful’ is by far one of the strongest tracks on the album, with the soaring vocals that highlight Steven Tyler’s vocal talents effortlessly. This track takes you straight back to the 80s with its glam inspired chorus, giving a certain sense of nostalgia that is purely addictive. Speaking of nostalgia, the electrifying track that is ‘Street Jesus’ gives off a sort of ‘Sweet Emotion’ vibe with the elongated vocals and raucous guitars.

If you are to ask one person to collaborate on a song with you, who better to ask than…Johnny Depp? Well, it wasn’t the top of the list but boy is ‘Freedom Fighter’ featuring Johnny Depp a hell of a tune. ‘Can’t Stop Lovin’ You’ with Carrie Underwood is also a stunning duet worth a mention.

All in all, this is exactly what you expect from Aerosmith: big stadium sounds that are sure to wake the neighbours. With many classic bands changing their tune these days, throwing away the synths and dropping the guitars down a tune, take Europe and Whitesnake for example. Aerosmith are not one of those bands. They still use harmonicas and bluesy guitar riffs with orchestras even after all this time – and they do it well. This put these guys right on top for one of the greatest rock bands of all time. There is not a song that we would not recommend on this album. Definitely worth waiting eleven years for.

9/10
