Review: AC/DC – Live At The River Plate (Album)

AC/DC have a new live album out! See what HTF thought of it here!

Band: AC/DC
Release: Live At The River Plater
Release Date: Out Now

Earlier this week, the Rock ‘N Roll scene was graced with a brand new album designed to blow your skin off. That album is the first live album by the band in 20 years, it was recorded in a country that the band hadn’t visited for thirteen years prior to this album, and it is also the soundtrack to a DVD that hit #1 in 17 countries. Can you tell what it is yet? Of course, it’s ‘Live At The River Plate’ by AC/DC!

Ask yourself this: in the past forty years, have AC/DC ever let me down? They’ve never changed their tune, never composed a record that isn’t worth buying and always there to rock you into a good mood when you need them to. ‘Live At The River Plate’ is no different. It was recorded over the same three shows that are featured on the ‘Live At The Riverplate DVD’ in Buenos Aires, Argentina, back in 2009 on the infamous Black Ice tour which was nearly over 2 and a half years long.

In 19 songs, spread over two discs, you can expect all the classics such as ‘Back In Black’, ‘Thunderstruck’, ‘Whole Lotta Rosie’ and ‘Highway To Hell’ to name a few, but what adds to these awe inflicting tunes is the crowds response to them as they sing along to Angus’s riffs. Their enthusiasm and adrenalin has been captured so clearly and vibrantly, that you could mistake them from gathering a hundred people and shoving them in a studio.

New live recordings include seven songs that were not included on the bands previous live album ‘Live’ which was released in 1992, giving the fans something different to play on their speakers. For the first time in 20 years, you can hear ‘Rock N Roll Train’‘Shot Down in Flames’, ‘Black Ice’, ‘Dog Eat Dog’, ‘Back in Black’ and ‘Hells Bells’ live whilst driving your car.

In a nut shell, this is exactly what you expect from AC/DC and it delivers nothing but pure, hair raising Rock ‘N Roll that you simple can’t argue with. You can’t complain, it’s AC/DC.

8/10
