Mariah Carey – Infinity | Single Review

The smoothest and freshest Carey has sounded in years.

After a relatively unsuccessful couple of years on the charts, severe criticism of her live vocals and turbulent personal life recently, iconic singer Mariah Carey looks set to have a rather big comeback in 2015.

With her personal life back on track, new record deal at Epic Records, new management with L.A. Reid, a residency in Las Vegas and a number-ones compilation called ‘#1 to Infinity‘ with all 18 of her chart toppers, Carey has premiered her new single to accompany and promote all of her goings on right now.

‘Infinity’ is the only new recording to be included on her upcoming compilation release and it’s definitely a step in the right direction. A cool pop and R&B song with catchy, cooed lyrics, an orchestral beat and impressive vocals, this is the smoothest and freshest Carey has sounded in years. Even the artwork is fun and carefree, with no extensive airbrushing, although we have come to expect a little bit of cleavage!

The track feels age appropriate for the 45 year old singer, but it also has a younger demographic appeal to it. And of course, it wouldn’t be a typical Carey track without the long, high falsetto note at the end, which once again serves as a reminder as to why she is such a superstar in the music industry. This adult contemporary and pop sound is definitely the direction that she should pursue from now on.

While we wait for the official Brett Ratner music video to drop, a seriously inventive and glossy lyric video has been uploaded to Carey’s YouTube channel, which has already garnered over 1.1 million views in 24 hours. Check it out below! ‘Infinity’ is available to download on iTunes worldwide.
