Live Review: McFly – Bournemouth International Centre – 09/05/13

We went along to see McFly on their current Memory Lane tour – find out what we made of the night HERE!

Artist: McFly
Venue: Bournemouth International Centre
Date: 09/05/13

British band McFly did not disappoint at their sell out show in Bournemouth last Thursday night (9th May).

After comedian Mr Antastic, and up-and-coming boy band The Vamps had warmed up the crowd, McFly appeared on stage looking very dapper in their suits.

They kicked off an unforgettable night with an acoustic version of the chorus of ‘Memory Lane’, and just like that song, this tour celebrated ‘The Best Of McFly’, with them performing a range of their greatest hits to date. They sang their old classics including ‘Star Girl’, ‘Room on the Third Floor’ and ‘Obviously’, as well as the more recent ‘Lies’ and ‘Shine A Light’.

The boys slowed the pace down for a bit, performing their number one hit song ‘I’ll Be Okay’ which saw Tom Fletcher swap his guitar for the piano, followed afterwards by ‘Bubblewrap’. And, later on in the night, Tom grabbed his pink ukulele to perform their newest single, the beautiful ‘Love Is Easy’.

As well as being brilliant entertainers and amazingly talented musicians, McFly interacted with the crowd throughout the night. They provided lots of banter, including a rendition of ‘YMCA‘ complete with the relevant hats, as well as stories about how the band formed. This tour really was a trip down ‘Memory Lane’.

McFly ended this fabulous night on a high, with an encore consisting of number one hit song, and one of my favourites, ‘All About You’ followed by ‘The Heart Never Lies’ in which Tom reminded us how “It’s not always easy, but McFly’s here forever”.

It’s hard to believe it’s ten years this summer since McFly formed, but even though they may now be older, their impressive talent and entertaining ways haven’t changed one bit. They’re still going as strong as ever, and the screams inside the BIC on Thursday night proved that.
