Live Review: Lawson – 02 Academy, Bristol – 05/03/13

We hit Bristol to see those amazing lads in Lawson perform to a sold out crowd! Check out what we thought inside..

Band: Lawson
Venue: 02 Academy, Bristol
Date: 05/03/13

Stand back, this four piece are quite possibly the best looking band in the entire world, so naturally, we were over the moon to be finally seeing them live in action. Not only have they got the looks but my goodness they have the talent, their musicianship is completely stunning and it becomes apparent how hard they have worked to get to where they are today. A completely sold out UK tour and a gold selling debut album proves how much the UK and their crazy fans ultimately love them.

Tonight was simply stunning; the sound, the set list, the lighting and the atmosphere could not have been any better. Lawson were incredible and proved that they are a pop band to be reckoned with. There is quite simply no other band out there right now who perform their material this well live in this genre.

Performing an array of tracks from their stunning debut album ‘Chapman Square’ had us some what hypnotised from beginning to end. The whole album is laced with cracking anthems with single releases ‘Taking Over Me’, ‘When She Was Mine’ and ‘Learn To Love Again’ – that song quite literally has such a massive chorus, being the front running favourites from us and the crowd tonight! Personal album delight ‘Stolen’ was also incredible live, as was ‘Gone’; to be honest every track this band performed was even better live then recorded, as expected. Lead vocalist Andy Brown took to the stage solo with his acoustic guitar and wowed us with the best ballad on the bands debut, ‘The Girl i Knew’, this was just icing on the cake for us, just beautiful to witness!

We really did fall in love with this band over and over again throughout the evening as they really portray to us how much they appreciate their fans. Along with the front man, bassist Ryan Fletcher spoke to us many times throughout the evening and they both warmed us up perfectly between tracks.

Overall we are counting down the days till we can see them live again. Well done guys, keep up the good work!
