Live Review: Jessie J – Bournemouth International Centre – 10/11/13

We saw Jessie J on her recent tour – check it out here!

Artist: Jessie J

Venue: Bournemouth International Centre

Date: 10/11/13

Pop sensation Jessie J brought her ‘Alive Tour’ to Bournemouth at the weekend, where she gave one hell of a show, making it clear that it was definitely her party!

After support acts consisting of American singer Olivia Somerlyn and popular boy band Lawson had warmed up the crowd, an opening on-screen video was played, exciting everyone even more. Finally Jessie appeared on stage in a gorgeous flowing white dress, kicking off the night with ‘Big White Room’ before going into her catchy new single ‘Thunder’.

Jessie performed a range of tracks from her two albums ‘Who You Are’ and ‘Alive’, including the smash hits ‘Domino’, ‘Nobody’s Perfect’, and ‘Do It Like A Dude’. Her impressive vocals couldn’t be faulted, and she was energetic throughout.

Jessie revealed to her fans, or ‘Heartbeats’ as she calls them, that the five mottos she lives by are: Awake, Love, Instinct, Value and Energy, and the show was divided into five sections to reflect each of those themes. A motivation video from Jessie giving words of wisdom relating to each theme was played every time she went off for a costume change, which although seemed a nice sentiment, did become a bit irritating after a while.

A stand out moment of the night was definitely her performance of track ‘Laserlight’, which included spectacular lighting effects during the chorus that certainly wowed the crowd. Another highlight was her dedicating ‘Conquer The World’ to our fallen heroes, a touching tribute as it was Remembrance Sunday.

After explaining to crowd how there wouldn’t be an encore as she finds them a bit of a farce, Jessie brought this fab night to an end with her number 1 hit song ‘Price Tag’ followed by ‘It’s My Party’. All in all, it was an energetic show with Jessie lively throughout, pulling out all the stops including impressive costumes, laserlights, fire and confetti, to put on a thoroughly entertaining show that won’t be forgotten in a hurry!

Jessie highlighted how she wants to bring more positivity into the world, and in terms of female role models these days, she’s certainly one to admire.
