Hevy Festival – Saturday 16th August | Live Review

Day 2 of Hevy festival kicked off with a trip to the zoo…… Check out what we made of the music as well!

Nursing sore heads from the night before, Hevy attendees headed back to the arena for another day of incredible bands – or even a trip to the zoo. After last night’s headline show from Finch, Saturday perfomers had 10 very large shoes to fill. So here’s what we thought of the day…

Main Stage

The Murder Burgers
We last caught the Scottish pop-punkers The Murderburgers amidst their tour with Alkaline Trio earlier this year and it seems they haven’t stopped since. As they took to the stage in the afternoon sun it was clear that there wasn’t a pause or breath to be had until an impromptu strip tease of their new merch. Music and chanting really proving the power of peer pressure and a willing or not so willing volunteer. At the root of it all are these sweetly addictive tracks with some impelling lyrics that you almost miss in the swing of things. The Murderburgers are a band you do not want to miss if you get the chance. 3.5/5 AC

Moose Blood
They’ve been hotly tipped for success, so on Saturday Moose Blood got a chance to play the main stage at Hevy. They tripped up slightly during their second song, but their delightful take on emo was able to fill the field. It’s sound like this that show how big and loud they can and should play. Ending with ‘Boston’ as the sun slowly slopes out, they manage to get the good few sing-a-longs they deserve. 3.5/5 LH

Me VS Hero
Hevy have managed to reignite many teenage memories this weekend, and Me vs Hero were yet another. Despite wanting to promote their newer material, they make sure to please their veteran fans with tracks like ‘Days That Shape Our Lives’. Unfortunately they were hindered by the outdoor main stage sound quality, and at times the vocals were a bit shaky. But as they ended with ‘Can You Count, Suckers?’ the crowd seemed pleasantly satisfied. 3.5/5 LH
