Catz n Dogz – From Your Heart | EP Review

We take a look at the sample of tracks from Catz ‘n Dogz forthcoming release, Basic Colour Theory

Catz ‘n Dogz recently presented us with their new EP, From Your Heart, as a taster of what’s to come from their forthcoming third LP, Basic Colour Theory.

While only being three tracks long, From Your Heart has many qualities of a full album. Taking you on a journey from start to finish, starting slow and then building you up, there is something seriously cool about the soothing sounds of these tracks, blended in with that familiar Tech House influence.

Stepping aside from the usual Techno offerings of Catz n Dogz, opening track ‘From Your Heart’ is slow, with a combination of both soothing male and robotic voices from the popular indie-pop trio, Peter, Bjorn & John. Perfect to put on after a heavy night out.

Echoing the lyrics “So so high, so high with you” continuing from the previous track, ‘Parallel Problems’ eventually breaks into a cool beat, back to that Tech House sound we all know and love. With sounds similar to the likes of The Chemical Brothers, ‘Parallel Problems’ is one of those tracks that you can see being played again and again as the opening track for DJ sets worldwide.

And finally, ‘Nobody Cares’ has strong familiarities with the sounds of Maceo Plex, one of those most talented producers and DJs around. It sounds delightfully bouncy. While not geared up for the big warehouses and superclubs of the world, ‘Nobody Cares’ is definitely suited for more intimate sets, boat, pool and house parties everywhere. This EP also features an extended mix of ‘Parallel Problems’.

This EP shows a promising selection of tracks and we just hope now that the album, due for release on May 19th, matches up to the precedence set.
