After almost 20 years since the release of their first album, Caliban’s eleventh studio album ‘Elements’ is about to drop – and what a piece of work it is.
The German metalcore group have spent two years creating Elements and the work they’ve put in is clearly evident in this colourful, neck-breaking work of art. Opening up with ‘This is War’ which sets the tone for the rest of the album, composed of what metalcore dreams are made of; breakdowns aplenty!
There is no denying Caliban have a large and diverse global fanbase, and this could be attributed to how dynamic and refreshing their sound has been over the last 20 years, their two decades of experience has made them highly skilled in setting the right tone and giving the people what they want.
Elements is not all thrashing riffs and breakdowns, there are a couple of smoother, slower paced tracks; a standout one being ‘My Madness’ which falls right in the middle of the 13-track album. Although my madness has a significantly slower tempo than the tracks that come before it, don’t let that fool you, nothing is taken away from the overall feel and high energy of what Elements is about, it is literally another element to the already stunning album.
The band’s eleventh album has delivered and not at all disappointed. We couldn’t think of a more fitting name for an impulsive and mercurial album that has a mix of many flavours which is no surprise from Caliban… Elements is quite the masterpiece.
