Another September weekend sees another festival and The Blackout are back. We were pretty excited after their Butserfest performance a few weeks ago, and wondered how they’d ever top it. But low and behold they went above and beyond – this could have been in part down to the crowd who went mental – but either way as the sun began to set The Blackout brought the party to Brighton.
Beginning with the chaotic ‘I’m A Riot…’ we knew exactly what to expect. Vocalist Sean Smith dove into the crowd and incited the mosh pits which encapsulated the crowd whilst Gavin Butler and the rest of the lads kept the party strictly on stage. They’re every part the performers moving with force through tracks spanning their eleven year career. The Blackout’s set may be nothing massively new. We all know Sean will take on Hyro De Hero‘s rap in ‘Higher and Higher’ and that the band will make everyone sit on the floor and “jump the fuck up” at some point; but why change something which works so perfectly?!

It doesn’t matter how many times we see The Blackout we never get bored: they aren’t just a band with insanely catchy music but they know how to have plain old stupid fun.
