Earlier this evening, BBC Radio 1 premiered ‘Mercy‘, the much-awaited brand new track from Muse.
‘Mercy‘ is the third track to be taken from the band’s upcoming album Drones, set for release on June 8th via Warner Bros. Records. The previous tracks released from the album, ‘Dead Inside‘ and ‘Psycho‘, have left fans desperate for more from the British three-piece.
Fans won’t have to wait much longer to see the band perform live though, as they are set to headline Download Festival alongside Slipknot and Kiss just five days after the release of Drones, on June 13th. The festival slot is their only UK tour date this year.
Speaking of the new single, lead singer Matt Bellamy has said: “The opening line of ‘Mercy’ – “help me I’ve fallen on the inside” – is a reference to the protagonist knowing and recognizing that they have lost something, they have lost themselves. This is where he realises that he is being overcome by the dark forces that were introduced to him in ‘Psycho’.”
Since its radio debut, the track’s lyric video has surfaced online. You can check out the video for ‘Mercy‘ below:
