With their reunion performance at Coachella being only a few months away, former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Izzy Stradlin reached out to Rolling Stones to inform fans that he will not be participating in the band’s upcoming reunion concerts.
Izzy said: “At this point in time, I will not be playing at any of the April 2016 GNR shows,” he added “I’ve also not been in the studio recording or writing with any of the others recently. There is so much speculation, but so very little info, [that] I thought I should reach out.”
Last week, we saw Stradlin activate his Twitter account and where he initially made it clear to fans that he has “no involvement” with the GNR reunion via his first tweet.
With the account’s lack of authenticity, fans went wild as they struggled to believe if this news was real. It wasn’t until Izzy posted a 20-second video of himself singing a snippet of the 1971 Jonathan Edwards song “Sunshine” that truly people believed the Tweet.
Stradlin also addressed his Twitter account in a voicemail to Rolling Stone: “I know there’s a lot of questions regarding my Twitter account. But it’s me. I opened the Twitter account. There was just so much speculation going on regarding my involvement and studio recording. There’s so much misinformation, so I wanted to clarify that I’m not in the studio recording with any of the Guns N’ Roses guys. At this point in time, I’m not involved in the actual shows … A lot of stuff [fans] are reading isn’t true.”
It will be a shame if the band don’t somehow include Izzy in their reunion, but regardless Guns N’ Roses’ April shows will be truly amazing.
