This weeks Throwback Thursday sends us back to 2004 in a time when Eastcoast and Westcoast Hip Hop were working together. I’m talking about the Compton rapper The Game’s all time classic track Hate It or Love It which features a later enemy of his 50 Cent. This track was before all the beef and fighting between Game and 50 in fact at this point of time The Game was signed to 50 Cents label G-Unit.
The single was off The Game’s debut album The Documentary which featured hits like This Is How We Do, Westside Story and Put You On The Game. Originally The Game didn’t have much of an interest to the instrumental beat and 50 Cent was planning to use the beat for his own song on his The Massacre. However Game found himself making the beat his own and the track came 2nd in the US Hot 100Billboard, only being beaten by 50 Cent’s Candy Shop hit. The single did hit number 1 in the US Rap Billboard and US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Billboard.
