The Weeknd Makes BBC Sound Of 2013 Poll

A promising future for the hotly-tipped Canadian singer / songwriter…

Great news for Canadian newcomer The Weeknd, who has been shortlisted for BBC’s Sound Of 2013 Poll!

The hotly-tipped export who is currently being tagged as ‘the best musical talent since Michael Jackson’ (John Norris, MTV), is in the run for the people’s choice award, with 12 other independent artists including Tom Odell, Palma Violets,  and Haim, among many others.

It has already been a very successful couple of years for The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye). Since virally releasing his debut album ‘House Of Balloons’ via Youtube, he has since caught the eye of music critics worldwide to high praise. Additionally, he has also recently released his brand new album ‘Trilogy’ via Universal Republic Group (to which he recently signed this year), whilst also still running his own record label XO.
He also recently sold out his entire 7-date UK tour which included a four night residency at the Electric Ballroom in London!

The past 24 months have already been a rollercoaster for this young artist and songwriter. Just where will destiny take him in to 2013?! Watch this space…
