Curtis Young, the oldest son of Dr. Dre is trying to carve out a name for himself in the industry. He has enormous shoes to fill, being the son of hip hop’s first billionaire and legend, it’s definitely going to be a hard task for him.
In an interview with XXL he revealed “I wanted to take (rapping) more seriously, because I felt like it was a calling for me,” Young added ”My father that raised me, he was not too supportive with me doing music. So I had to take it as my own calling and understand that my father had built his own legacy, and I wanted to continue it.”
Young has appeared in a few independent films, though Young admits he was not cast to portray his rather in the forthcoming N.W.A biopic.
“I actually tried out for the role, cause the casting company called me,” Young says. “But my father wanted somebody with more acting experience, and I haven’t been acting for a long time, so I’m happy for the guy that got the role. It’s one of those things where we want what’s best for the movie and for the film. I had a lot of fans that were upset about it, but whatever’s best for the film, that presents it in that light, then I’m for it.”
