HTF were lucky enough to catch up with the lovely drummer from London’s awesome rock outfit Young Guns this week. We chat to Ben Jolliffe and find out his Christmas song playlist, exclusive for our HTF readers!
Number 1: Crash Test Dummies – Mmm, Mmm, Mmm, Mmm
Ben: “I love this song because of Home Alone. Whenever I hear this it reminds me of being a kid watching Home Alone around Xmas time. Best film ever!”
Number 2: Santa Clause Is Coming To Town – Bruce Springsteen
Ben: “I ‘ve always loved Bruce Springsteen. This song is a classic. It’s not often I like a Christmas song by a rock artist but Bruce nails it!”
Number 3: Brenda Lee – ‘Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree’
Ben: “This is again from Home Alone.. But it’s also a song my mum used to play when I was a kid. Always reminds me of opening presents at Christmas. Now my presents are usually along the lines of tax for my car.”
Number 4: The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl – ‘Fairytale of New York’
Ben: “I love this song. It’s one of those you always hear around Christmas and never get sick of. Although his voice is so bad but somehow it works.”
Number 5: ‘Whats This’ – Danny Elfman
Ben: “Nightmare before Christmas is one of the best movies ever made. What’s This is a brilliant part in the movie. So dramatic, Danny Elfman is a genius.”
Number 6: ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ -
 Joe Beal and Jim Boothe
Ben: “Another Home Alone classic. As you can see I love this film and this song is an absoloute classic.”
Number 7: ‘Last Christmas’ – Jimmy Eat World.
Ben: “Jimmy are one of my favourite bands and they make this Christmas classic even better. This band don’t do any wrong.”
Number 8: ‘Have Yourself A Merry Christmas’ – Billy Joel
Ben: “I love this song. My nan used to sing it at Christmas parties with my uncle, so funny.”
Number 9: ‘Santa Baby’ – Eartha Kitt
Ben: “This song was in Elf. Great film and I really like this song. The girl sounds hot in it!”
Number 10: ‘It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas’ – Meredith Willson.
Ben: “I’d always here this song in my car a couple of weeks before Christmas and it would always make me feel Christmassy. Great song.”
