Mindless Self Indulgence have announced details of their first new album in five years, to be titled ‘How I Learned Not To Give A Shit And Love Mindless Self Indulgence’.
The album, fan funded through Kickstarter, is set for a June 17 release.
Frontman Jimmy Urine said that the tracks on ‘How I Learned…’ embody the band’s punk ethic, and are among the best he has ever written:
“We invented our own sound 15 years ago and stuck with it and persevered like The Cramps or The Ramones. When you want MSI, you come to MSI and we give you MSI. We don’t give a sh*t what you think and we love our job… and THAT is why the album is titled How I Learned Not To Give a Sh*t And Love Mindless Self Indulgence… It’s very self- referential.”
The album closes with a cover of Supertramp classic ‘The Logical Song’, not nearly as tongue-in-cheek as many would expect
Jimmy Urine (Mindless Self Indulgence) said: “I honestly love that song. It’s a dark f*cking song for a 70s prog rock group. I didn’t really f*ck f*ck f*ck it up like I usually do because it’s kind of a weird song to begin with.”
