Indonesia have elected their new president, Joko Widodo, who won a whopping 51.3% of votes in the country’s recent presidential election.
‘What’s so special about Joko Widodo?’ we hear you ask. Well, he’s a metalhead who has publicly declared his love for bands such as Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Lamb Of God and Napalm Death. In fact, Widodo loves his metal so much, that in August of last year, he was seen at a Metallica concert in Jakarta having a good old headbang with his fellow fans.
“I listen to loud metal songs, from Metallica to Led Zeppelin, to Napalm Death … because rock is my passion,” Widodo told Indonesian news agency, AFP before the gig.
Metallica also sent Widodo a bass guitar last year, autographed by Rob Trujillo. However, the gift was later declared state property by the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission, and Widodo was forced to give it away.
